Life According to Instagram, Week Sixteen.

Week Sixteen
April 15th - April 21st, 2013

1. Very much into my new necklace from Anthropologie.

2. Flip-flip weather is slowly emerging.

3. Last run before the 10k on Saturday.

4. Appropriate art school campus graffiti.

5. On April 20, 2013 I ran my first 10k (first ever anything), Sole of the City.

After lots of ups and downs in my training (mostly surrounding being sick all the time), I wasn't sure if I was even going to go through with the 10k, especially because at the last minute my running partner backed out because of a work conflict. But I knew that if I didn't TRY, I'd regret it. I told myself that if I needed to walk parts of it, that would be okay. I told myself that it would be an adventure.

So on Saturday morning I woke at 6am and planned on taking the Charm City Circulator down to the race area. Went to go wait for it around 7am and after a little research via iPhone found out that the CCC doesn't run 'til 9am on Saturdays (good job planning that one, Ms. Kristen-Crayon). Woke N. up to let me back in the apartment (no keys on me) and he *thankfully* offered to drive me to Locust Point, where the race would begin.

It was surprisingly cold on Saturday morning, in the high 40s. I was freezing, even in a hoodie. There was no bag drop-off, so everything you needed had to stay on your person. Check-in was a little chaotic - 3,300 runners had signed up! I had to pick up my shoe tag and bib, and people were passing out blue and gold ribbons to honor the Boston Marathon tragedy. Before the race I talked with a nice guy-- we were mutually confused about where the start line was. Eventually they announced the location and we made our way over. Opening remarks were made, had a moment of silence for Boston, National Anthem played, and we were off!

Had a rough start from being so stiff from the cold, and Anne Hathaway's version of "I Dreamed a Dream" came up second on my playlist (not all that motivating, haha). The light was beautiful over the Inner Harbor, and I got pretty sentimental about leaving Baltimore come June. This was the first time I had ever run outside and there were definitely challenges-- wind, puddles, cobblestones, hills (we ran through Federal Hill, after all!). There were highs and lows, mostly involving comparing myself to other runners, but overall I'm SO PROUD of myself for running my first race, alone, somewhat out of shape from being sick so often, and definitely intimidated. I wonder what other running goals are in store for 2013?

6. Jonesie wears my bib better than me.

7. Celebratory drinks at Brewer's.

8. Jonesie loves weekends, too.

9. - 14. Project Life Weeks Fifteen & Sixteen in the books.

Week Fifteen
April 8th - April 14th, 2013

1. Taught all day Monday with zero voice. Wore this sticker around to defer students' questions :(

2. My favorite B'more tag.

3. - 4. Called in sick and walked down to the CVS Minute Clinic in Harbor East on Tuesday. Felt perfectly fine, except for the complete loss of my voice. Entertained myself with shoe shots and sites as I took the long walk home after getting my prescription filled. One more day off required, at the advice of the doc.

5. Bedtime doodles: perfectly imperfect hearts.

6. Back to running after a two-week hiatus!

7. Cheery pink geraniums on my walk home from the gym.

8. - 12. Days off from work = scrapbooking. Project Life Week Fourteen in the books, in addition to some cards for upcoming weeks.

Life According to Instagram, Week Fourteen.

Week Fourteen
April 1st - April 7th, 2013

1. - 4. Project Life spread for Week Thirteen. My friend Amy, from One Artsy Mama, makes a cameo!

5. - 6. Tuesday was a professional day. Super-impressed with the kindergarteners' paint jobs on these pinch pots. Super-amused by this first grade fish saying, "Work it, girl." I love my job. It's amazing what you find when going through piles and piles of grading. Too bad I worked so hard on the prof day while feeling sub-par... didn't make it into work on Wednesday or Thursday. Nasty head cold wiped me out.

7. Throwback Thursday featuring many of my bro's bowl cuts. And a pretty sweet pic of him in middle school + me in high school.

8. Made it back to work on Friday, only to completely lose my voice. At least one of my kinders cheered me up with this giant painted face (18 x 24").

9. - 10. Retail therapy makes everything better, right? Finally splurged on Viktor & Rolf's Flowerbomb perfume after coveting it for years. And a Jonathan Adler sticker pad for good measure :)

11. - 13. SO proud of my man! He was honored at the Nineteenth Annual Awards Ceremony for UB Law students for his A+ in "Business Organizations." Not only was he honored, but many of his friends received awards, too! N. keeps talented company. My voice was completely lost by Sunday, so I enjoyed my amazing risotto at Joe Squared afterwards while listening to the wonderful conversation of loved ones around me & N.

Spring break never lasts long enough, does it?

Week Thirteen
March 25th - March 31st, 2013

1. These "love" graffiti tags are all over our neighborhood. What I didn't love was the rainy Monday weather.

2. Got a head start on wrapping presents for my future sis-in-law's baby shower. I will be showering my twin nephews with books!

3. - 4. Two runs.

5. - 7. World / Inferno Friendship Society with the bro at Ottobar. Wednesday night concerts for the win!

8. The only good thing about getting routine maintenance done on your car, complete with a two-hour wait? Thoroughly filling out your old-school Moleskine planner.

9. Thursday evening drinks at Brewer's with my beau.

10. Jonesie thinks that my t-strap makes a nice pillow.

11. Spring Break = guilt-free scrapbooking!

12. Twinsies! Eye doc appointment with Mom. Got to take advantage of daytime doc hours during Spring Break. Pack those appointments in when you can!
