Hi! I'm in my seventh year of teaching elementary art and I'm *still* trying to figure it all out. Here you'll find my observations about teaching art, unit ideas and results, and any other life-bits that might coincide with teaching 500+ little kiddos.

A teacher's pleasure.
"Remember, I’m going to mark you, it’s my great pleasure to reward real effort, it’s my great pleasure to punish stupidity, laziness and insincerity."
love this quote! I'm a first year art teacher as well, and this sums up my year! I hope to update my blog over the summer since my first year was such a blur!!
The quote is from a book called Draw It With Your Eyes Closed: The Art of the Art Assignment, edited by Paper Monument. I haven't read it yet (pulled the quote from a review of the book), but I am dying to get my hands on it! I completely understand the "blurriness" of it all... each of these entries is a labor of love because of exhaustion and lack of time. I feel ya, girl! Reflection is SO important, so do it when ya can!
